An 18-year veteran of the Hillside Police Department is on administrative leave after allegedly shooting his teenage son in the leg Monday night.
According to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy, Detective James Holmes returned to his Toms River home Monday around 7 p.m. during a dispute between the 17-year-old victim and the teenager’s mother. The detective became involved in the argument, which ended with Holmes firing a .40-caliber bullet into the victim’s leg. MORE

OMG. I trust that the boy is ok. I also pray that everything works out. Holmes is a good guy and has a wonderful family. BUT kids sometimes will work that last nerve. Pray for the family and our own officer. It could have been far worst.

Yea; cannot wait to have Jimmy’s prayer on the rosary and the HPD prayers added to the station of the cross!

It’s not just high school students anymore. A lot of older people, myself included are having to make the decision of trying to find work in our current field or go back to school and try something different. Cost is a big deal, especially since scholarships are few and far between for older people starting or trying to finish their degree program.
